How WorkerLot Works

The Basic

  1. Homeowners upload a project description, dimensions, relevant address, and pictures.
  2. Workers search for jobs based on location and skills, then submit bids.
  3. Homeowners review and select a bid based on price or skill set.
  4. After discussing the details and reaching an agreement, Homeowners accept the bid and deposit payment into an escrow account.
  5. Workers click the "Start Job" button to begin the project.
  6. Upon completion, Workers click the "Complete Job" button and notify the Homeowner.
  7. If the work meets the agreed specifications and the Homeowner is satisfied, they accept the completed job and release the escrow payment to the Worker.
  8. Both parties then rate each other.

How WorkerLot Works

Payment Processing System

Payments on WorkerLot.com are processed through PayPal, a trusted payment facilitator that handles billions of dollars in transactions annually. Workers are required to have or create a separate PayPal account when registering with WorkerLot.com. When a Homeowner accepts a bid, the payment is deposited into an escrow account. Upon completion of the work and Homeowner approval, payment is transferred to the Worker’s WorkerLot wallet. Workers can then transfer the funds to their PayPal account and withdraw the payment at their discretion. We are actively working on exploring more efficient payment solutions, including accepting cryptocurrency in the near future.

Dispute

WorkerLot.com operates based on good faith and fair dealings, expecting all parties to adhere to these principles. In the event of a dispute between a Homeowner and a Worker, both parties will be referred to an independent third-party mediator for resolution. A mediation fee will be charged to both parties. Please note that all transactions must be conducted through the WorkerLot platform to be eligible for dispute resolution services.

No-Show, Disagreement and Dispute Buttons

Our goal at WorkerLot.com is to streamline the experience of construction contracting.
Before a Job, No-Show Button: If a Homeowner pays the project payment in to the escrow account, but the Worker doesn’t show up, Homeowner can click the No-Show button and the payment will automatically be fully refunded to the Homeowner.
During a Job, Disagreement Button: If a disagreement arises during a job, such as discrepancies in the project scope, job site conditions, or the Worker’s skills, delays, or failure to complete the work as agreed, either party may select the "Disagreement" button. This will initiate a request for a refund or payment, subject to mutual agreement. If an agreement cannot be reached, the parties may proceed with the Dispute Button. Please see below for further details.
After a Job, Dispute Button: After the Worker clicks the "Job Completed" button, if the work does not meet the agreed-upon specifications or the Homeowner’s satisfaction, the Homeowner can request a rework by selecting the "Incomplete" button. If the issue remains unresolved, either the Homeowner or the Worker can click the "Dispute" button to request mediation by an independent third-party mediator, for a fee. If one party pays the dispute fee but the other party declines, the dispute fee and the main payment will be returned to the paying party. If both parties agree to the dispute fee, an independent mediator will be engaged to resolve the matter and issue a final judgment.

Dispute Resolution: Final Response Time Limit

If a disagreement or dispute is raised, the opposing party has one week to respond. If no response is received within this time frame, the payment will be released to the requesting party. This decision is final and irrevocable.
